Experience authentic Thai culture with Siam Classic’s traditional Thai Dance Drama Show, combined with the unique cuisine of Thailand, presented nightly in our charming restaurant.
Siam Classic Bophut is situated in the "Fisherman's Village" on the idyllic island of Koh Samui. Until recently, fishing and coconuts have been the main source of income on the island, but this has now been superceded by tourism. Third largest of Thailand’s islands, Koh Samui is an hours flight from Bangkok.
Every evening our talented actor/dancers perform traditional and contemporary Thai dances to the highest standards - our choreographer has performed for the Royal Family at the National Theatre in Bangkok. During the show you are served with the appropriate Thai cuisine, so that you really get the sights, sounds, aromas and taste of Thai culture. It is the perfect family entertainment. Traditional Thai theatre consists of six dramatic forms, Khon, formal masked dance-drama depicting scenes from the Ramakian and originally performed only for the royal court. Lakhon, a general term covering several types of dance-drama (usually for non royal occasions) as well as western theatre, Li-khe, a partly improvised, often bawdy folk play featuring dancing, comedy, melodrama and music. Manohra, the southern Thai equivalent of Li-khe, but based on a 2000 year old Indian story. Nang or shadow plays, limited to Southern Thailand. And Lakhon or Hun Luang - puppet theatre.
